Drinking water is one of the most precious resources on earth. Switzerland has a seemingly endless supply of fresh, clean (drinking) water, straight from the tap. But for some years now, reports have been piling up about rivers running dry, water shortages and the associated problems in agriculture, commerce and also in the private sector. On average, 300 liters of drinking water per person flow out of the taps in Switzerland every day. Most of it isn't for drinking but for the household and gardening.
In Switzerland water is also strongly associated with energy, hence saving water saves also energy.
